Thwap, Thwap, Thwap

Day 42
Swimming
4 x 1600's

I met Christina at 5:15 and we headed to the pool. So excited that I only have to swim one more time before the triathlon because Wade will be at Scout camp all next week.

The laps were pretty uneventful. I think I might have even dozed off somewhere in the middle.

We picked up our kids and met back at the track at 7:15ish to run our intervals.

Thwap, thwap, thwap is the sound of my thighs hitting each other. I swear they didn't do this just two years ago. I could wear running shorts and they didn't ride all the way up and cause major chafing. But, today, that's exactly what they did.

Hillary had beat us to the track and had already done her first interval by the time we started up.

We ran the first interval and it sucked. And then Belle was done playing so Hillary left.

Christina and I pressed on with our workout. After the second interval I told Christina that I could not go another step. We walked around the track and I felt a little better. So we did the third one. Then we did the fourth one because I wanted to say I actually finished this stupid workout. But I was only about a quarter of the way in to the first lap when I was done. I had no desire to finish, but I pulled it out of somewhere and finished.

Our splits were dismal. We actually got slower as we progressed. This was definitely not a good workout for me and I'm glad that I don't have to run mile repeats anymore. I've been completely knocked out by this workout. In fact, it's taken me 2 hours to write this because I keep drifting off to sleep.

Mile 1: 8:57
Mile 2: 9:22
Mile 3: 9:29
Mile 4: 9:38

Pathetic. Anything has to be easier than this workout. 12 miles? Bring it on. * miles tomorrow at a below 10 minute pace? Yeah, baby. More mile intervals? NEVER.
