Sleeping In and Lightning Strikes
Day 44
Swimming
After yesterday's trudge through the Sahara desert we decided to take today off. It was nice to sleep in--until 7 am. Because I was wide awake at 7 am. Grrr...
Day 45
Biking
Got my tire fixed. And it's flat again. I swear, these people are idiots. Don't go there. Taylor's Bike Shop. I'm going to make them fix it. For free. Because this is what happened last time, and I told them that. But did they listen? No.
So Christina and I were going to do the course on our mountain bikes. I got all ready to go and went outside and the lightning was coming down. I figured my greatest chance of making it alive to the triathlon and half marathon would be to not put myself on a big metal object in the middle of a lightning storm. So I drove over to the clubhouse to tell Christina this plan. She was there, riding in the middle of the parking lot.
She headed home. I headed home. Everything was great until I got a message from Becky (across the street) on Facebook (dang that facebook) saying that she ran into Chrisitina riding her bike and that I had scrapped the ride because of...thunder. Thunder?!? It makes me sound like a wuss. Which I'm so not. Usually. It was the LIGHTNING.
So, I called Christina and gave her a hard time. But, secretly, I wish I would've just bucked it up and gone. Because that's two days without exercise and I can definitely feel it. In my body and my mood.
The moral of the story: There are no secrets in Stansbury Park. Just like when I tried to sneak out for that ride on Monday...
