Sunburn
Day 19
6 miles at 9:57/mile pace
I was all gungho about running today until yesterday at about 7 pm when it became quite obvious that I wasn't going to be able to do it.
It being the first day of swimming lessons and all, and I'm not sure if I got distracted when putting on sunblock or if the wind carried it off or what the deal was, but I burnt one leg, the top of both feet and an armpit, among other patches of sunkissed skin and knew that 6 miles was going to be torture, if not entirely impossible.
I called Christina (who has completed EVERY training session save for the swimming one that we opted out of last week to bike instead--including an 8 mile run and a 10 mile run ALONE) and fessed up to my stupidity. We agreed to do the tempo run tomorrow, as well as swim, though I think we've come up with a workable solution with the swimming.
We'll take turns. Yes, that's right. We'll practice what we preach to our children by taking turns watching each other's kids in the other pool while the other one is swimming laps. I know. Genius, right? Christina came up with it.
So here's to hoping that I can run tomorrow.
