Something in the Air
Day 23
Biking
I finally got my tire fixed--again--and I was anxious to ride my bike, so I talked Christina into doing a road biking expedition with me this morning. I didn't really have any place set in mind. I figured we'd go in the direction of Grantsville and turn around when we got tired. So, at 6:30 am, off we went.
It was a pleasant morning and the only downside of the ride came when we were passed by someone on their bike on Cochraine Drive in Erda towards Erda Way.
We rode and rode and before long we'd gone 12.5 miles. So we turned around and came back. We got to see a cop car race by with his lights and sirens on and he almost biffed it in the parking lot of the police department, then he took off again, racing towards Stansbury. I'm not sure what the hurry was but then we got to thinking that what if there was a real criminal out and we're just ambling by on our bikes. Then an ambulance came screaming by (wow, those sirens are loud when you're right next to them) but they stopped and turned around. Christina also spotted a credit card on the road (I don't know how she sees these things) so she picked it up to turn it in at the Credit Union. All in all, it was a pretty eventful bike ride as far as rides go.
Christina struggled on the way back because of something in the air. I could feel it too, but I didn't react as badly. Her nose was a faucet. Probably some weed or something. Also, both our butts were pretty sore and Christina's shoulder hurt. These bikes take time to get use to.
I dropped Christina off and headed home, rounding out to a nice 25 miles in 1:58. That's the longest I've ever been on a bike before and it wasn't so bad, though right now my legs are a little sore. But it could be from mowing the lawn when I got back.
Another week down, five weeks to go until the triathlon. Six weeks until the half.
